It is the belief of The Wings of Refuge that the Cross provided healing for the body, soul and spirit. This ministry stands to appropriate all that the Cross provides to each and every Christian.
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention estimated in 2006 there were 102.2 million outpatient hospital visits, 119.2 million emergency department visits and 46 million procedures performed on hospital inpatients. The American Hospital Association reported that there are 5,708 registered U.S. hospitals. According to the latest statistics, there are thousands of hospitals to treat the physical wounds and sicknesses of millions of Americans, whether it's an emergency room visit or one that requires the patient to stay for several days. However, in a time where spiritual warfare is at its peak, where are the spiritual hospitals?
Wings of Refuge, a ministry founded by Executive Director Lisa Marie Bolin in 1993 seeks to serve as a Spiritual Hospital-a safe and loving environment for emotional and physical healing. Over 20 years ago, Lisa Marie began her own quest for God's refuge and presence as she began her journey to heal from years of abuse. During her journey, Lisa Marie realized her lack of preparedness to battle spiritual warfare. It was during those years that she gained understanding and became intimate with the Holy Spirit. Lisa Marie recognized that, "Spiritual warfare is a fight for which too few Christians are equipped to battle, I know I wasn't. For years, I was counseled to deal with my issues, and I praise the Lord for what He did in and through that. It brought much life, relief, and comfort, but often this does not expose the spiritual roots of the problem, which often go deep into our past. The problems are entangled in demonic strongholds. If the roots are not dealt with the issues will reoccur at a most opportune time in the future. Satan is very patient."
Wings of Refuge works to help men, women, teenagers and children combat their spiritual traumas (i.e. fear, rejection, grief, abuse, divorce, anger, sexual issues, marriages, parenting problems, etc.) The mission of Wings of Refuge is built upon the principle of Jesus Christ's power to mend the broken-hearted and tackle Satan's strongholds over one's life. It is a place where those needing and wanting healing can find trained, called, passionate people to engage with God and them in spiritual warfare, whether in a one on one session or an intensive overnight stay.
Lisa Marie adamantly believes that every battered, bruised and imprisoned soul can be set free. As she has experienced herself, the bondage resulting from childhood traumas or spiritual injuries wears many masks. Whatever mask it wears, Wings of Refuge works directly with each individual to break Satan's stronghold.
When contacted an interview is arranged to assess each individual's situation. Services are provided through a caring staff and trained volunteer intercessors; who throughout the week are going before the Lord on behalf of each client's needs. Every client's session differs because it is the Holy Spirit that leads and heals, not the intercessor. It is He alone who knows just how to untangle our individual spirit/soul hurts. All intercessors at Wings are dependent on His voice for leading and spend much time in prayer over each client. As they work with clients the ministry is also seeing tremendous physical healings. When asked why she thought that occurred, Lisa Marie replied, "As the soul is cleansed and renewed with God's truth, the body is free to experience more healing. Back problems, headaches, arthritis, cancer, intestinal problems, etc. have all bowed down to the name of Jesus. Satan's legal ground has been removed.
It is Wings' belief that God desires to heal both physically and emotionally, just as He did on earth, and just as was the norm for the first century church. He is showing His power in radical ways across the earth as we approach the End Times. The Bride needs to be ready to war with her Groom. We will war with you for your healing. The enemy will use anything to keep us from our true destinies. We want to be a Bride that is unified and victorious," says Lisa Marie.

What began as a small ministry sixteen years ago has now grown and changed locations to accommodate its new clients.
Wings of Refuge is now uniquely positioned to meet the needs of both men and women in the Kentuckiana area. The ministry occupies a large two story complex in Middletown, KY. The facility has 3 rooms for meeting privately with intercessors, a prayer room that is open daily from 8 AM to 5 PM, a bible study/worship hall, kitchen areas, rooms for overnight intensive visits, a reception area and a client lounge. With such a facility, the number of men and women helped has greatly multiplied. The additional room allows for one-on-one ministry and intercessory prayer, soaking in the prayer room, Bible studies, Christ-centered fellowship and worship to occur simultaneously.
"Due to our growth the financial needs of the ministry have accelerated", said Lisa Marie. Wings is seeking Christ-driven partners to help meet these needs. In addition, the ministry needs volunteers and prayer intercessors who undergo both training and supervision.
"Eventually, I know it's God's desire for on-going ministry to occur 24 hours a day...a fulltime spiritual hospital led and guided by the Holy Spirit. He alone can heal and it is He alone who knows the path we need to follow to restore spirit, soul and body."
